Dirt
I think that it is very important to retain our connection with the natural world, because the living organisms in soil are crucial to our farmland, our oceans and atmosphere, and even our very own community, right here in Pleasanton.
Without dirt, we would die. Our farms would die, our community would die, and we wont have anything left. Take the dust bowl in the midwest for instance. We didn't take care of our soil. Is there anything left there?
The dirt is alive. It is like the skin of the earth.
When there is only one plant for miles around, and a pest gets in, than the crops for miles around are destroyed
Than they use pesticide, and pesticide kills the soil
This creates nitrogen
The nitrogen leaks into the water, flows down the mississippi, and into the gulf of mexico
This creates dead zones
Also, when the nitrogen mixes with oxygen, it floats to the atmosphere
Its all a ripple effect.
The soil being damaged can lead to us going extinct.
We have to take care of our soil
There is ways YOU can help
If everybody does something to help, if everybody tries their best, we can make a change, we can make the soil healthy again

DeleteI totally agree. The chain reaction was a nice touch to explaining the terrible things pesticides could do to our environment. Just one tiny thing could end up disastrous. Now if whole communities did it, our world would be at stake. On the other hand, if whole communities could work together to stop killing soil, our world would be a better place.

Dirt
Dirt in my opinion is one of the most needed resources on the planet. It provides us with plants that are crucial to our existence. Dirt is declining in amount, and we take it for granted. we need to take this into consideration by finding ways to help this clause. People can do the following to help dirt:
1. Ban harmful pesticides from everyday farming used to help crops grow. Rain can wash away large amounts of excess pesticides, and this poisoned water can reach oceans and eventually kill of harm large amounts of sea life.
2. We can stop abandoning good soil and plants to build buildings, parking lots, sidewalks, etc. Soil is alive, and the will kill the soil by leaving it without sunlight, rain, and plants.
3. TAKE CARE OF DIRT! this is one of the biggest reasons dint is disappearing. There is thousands of acres of soil in deserts that is dried up. people are litterally fighting for good soil.
Soil is living and disappearing. People across the globe take soil for granted. don't be one of those people. HELP SOIL !!!
